If you are new to Gavel, here is some useful information about our site and how it works?

Gavel is an auction site specialising in the sale of antiques, art and collectables.  The site has been designed to make it simple for anyone to use.  What makes us different from other well-known auction sites is that we don't charge a commission on the end of sale.  All we charge is a small insertion fee to add a listing on our site and there are no extra costs for adding pictures or reserve prices.  This all makes it easier and simpler when it comes to selling your items.  Also, as part of our winter promotion all insertion fees are waivered for a limited time only.  This means, for the time being, all listings are totally free.

The auction works by adding a listing page to our site with photographs and a description of the item being sold.  Other information included on the listing would be the postage cost and payment methods accepted by the seller.  Every listing lasts for either 5, 7 or 10 days from the date and time the item was listed.  Gavel users can view listed items through the site and bid on items of interest.  At the end of the auction, the user with the highest bid wins the item provided the reserve price is met.
